THE CUSTOM INVITATION DESIGN PROCESS

We begin with an hour-long consultation, in person or over the phone, where we’ll ask you to tell us your story. If you’re looking to us for wedding invitations, we want to know how you met, how you would describe yourselves as a couple, and what the proposal was like. We also want to see what has inspired you through the course of planning your wedding. This could include photos or clippings of your dress, your cake, your flowers, your venue — anything you can think of. The more we know about you and the details of your big day, the more accurately we can represent your relationship in the work we create.

As a rule of thumb, clients should consider their wedding invitations at 7-10% of their overall wedding budget. Our projects take between 40 and 80 hours to complete, from the moment we meet to the time your invitations are assembled and ready to mail.

After our initial chat or get-together, we’ll create a free estimate based on the complexity of your project (ie. papers, printing methods and time needed for printing and assembly). Your estimate will be emailed to you within two weeks of our initial consultation. We welcome your feedback and ask that you contact us with any questions or edits to the proposal. When you’re satisfied with the final edits and pricing changes, we ask that you print, sign, and mail back the proposal with a non-refundable deposit of 10% of the total cost. This payment will go directly toward the cost of your invitations. Once we receive your deposit, we can start designing!

Upon receiving your payment and signed proposal, we’ll get right to work. Within two weeks, you’ll receive digital proofs with three options for your main invitation. After you’ve had the chance to choose, approve, or edit one of the three design options, we’ll send you a second round of digital proofs within one week. This round will include the edits to your chosen design. At this point, we ask that you submit a 50% deposit (minus your initial deposit of 10% of the total ). We’ll then create all the accompanying pieces to your invitation set (for example: reply card, reception card, thank you note, etc.).

At this stage, we would like you to approve or edit the wording and design of your invitation package. Along with digital proofs of the third round edits, you’ll also receive a physical sample of your invitation set (including inkjet proofs with paper and ink swatches) via snail mail. Should you decide to make additional changes to the three complimentary rounds of design proofing and editing, there will be an additional charge of $50 per round.

If you love the invitation you receive in the mail, we ask that you “sign off” on the printing and production of the design and submit the remaining 50% of your balance. “Signing off” means that you print out the final digital proofs, sign each page of the design as a symbol of your approval, and fax it back to us. Your signed approval means that everything is spelled correctly and to your liking, including accurate dates, times and colors. Once you have signed your approval, Fizz is not responsible for any errors. If you choose to reprint your invitation set, due to errors of any kind, you are responsible for 100% of the reprinting and labor costs. If you decide to cancel your order before printing begins, Fizz Paperie will retain 50% of the deposit; if you cancel your order after printing begins, Fizz Paperie must retain 100% of your deposit to cover production charges.

Once printing is finished, we will send you a package of partially assembled invitations with written instructions for completion. Should you find that your big day is fast approaching and you need more assistance than you’d originally thought, we would be happy to stuff and post your envelopes for an additional fee.

After your invitations are successfully in the mail, don’t be surprised when your guests can’t stop talking about them — or how excited they are for your big day!
